ECC Environment Clean up

Its the first month of the second half of the year, the weather is not that friendly, some little cold but this does not hinder us from uplifting the face of our environment. The pottery department, Rev. Kareri Primary School, the children's playing ground at the kindergarten and the administration block were some of the areas that were targeted for the clean up.The clean up mainly involved planting of flowers to various departments.

After all that work, we needed something to feed our stomach. The coffee was perfect with this weather.

The flowers were supplied to all the departments for planting.

They care about their little ones, that's why they had to clear the bush in the kindergarten's playground.

The pottery department had a lot of work to be done!

At all of it we had to thank God for everything.  'wahamanaki' a south african song meaning thank you Lord. Lead by Easter Kimani a teacher at Rev. Kareri.

Everyone participated in the exercise include the staff at Rajo Women.

PCEA ECC has a new director!

Mr. Phares Mithamo Nyaga has been appointed as the new ECC Director. His appointment has followed the resignation of the former director Mr. Steve Kuria Muigai. May The Almighty guide and give him the strength to take the organisation to greater heights.

The Social Trip to Aboretum

It has all been study! study! study! and nothing but study! to the trainees at the Vocational Training College....... wao! this sounds serious, very serious indeed. But now the staff and trainees at VTC decide to do it the other way, this time round, somewhere away from the class environment. They took it to the arboretum for a social trip. It was fun...take a look at some of the activities and games played during the trip.

This was the first game 'The introduction' everyone had to introduce themselves before any activity took place.

He wanted to enjoy himself, maybe that's why he decided to play the ball alone.

HIV/AIDS Training

Eastleigh Community Centre hosted a group of staff from Blue House for a training in HIV&AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) and other sexually transmitted diseases to Vocational Training College trainees. The training was educative as it addressed the challenges faced by young people in fighting the diseases, the possible ways to prevent the diseases and treatment of the same.

Discussions too were part of the training. This gave the trainees a platform to discuss the major issues they face in their society when it comes to HIV&AIDS.

The ECC Water Project

The PCEA ECC water project was geared towards addressing the water problem experienced in Eastleigh and its environs which in include places like Mathare and Huruma. The centre sells water to the residents at an affordable price. The water is natural and clean suitable for human consumptiom. 

This was a installation of the water tank at the PCEA water Kiosk. The tank was first cleaned before the installation. The ECC director watches the tank installation takes place at the water kiosk

A very important commodity for human life. Thats why area residents qued for it.

The cafeteria

Today we feature pupils from Rev. Kareri Primary School taking tea at the new cafeteria. They look relaxed and are really enjoying their breakfast.

For maximum concentration in class they needed to store something inside their stomach. I guess they were at the right place!

Their teachers too came to the cafeteria for breakfast.

Students from King College Visits ECC

It was a visit by students from The King college from the United States of America. The students were given a very warm welcome as they walked around the entire institution just to see what the centre does. They also stopped by the basket ball pit for a match with some ECC staff and students.

Mrs Mumbi had to pick her keys, but i guess she was very careful, not to be hit by the ball.

It was a tough match really, the STED Manager had to untuck his shirt and fold his sleeves!

They must be enjoying the lunch! The Home Management Trainees, served them best.
